French Cultural Consular to Pakistan Frederic Bessat visited the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Tuesday and appreciated the role of NUML’s French Department. He said the department had been assisting both France and Pakistan to improve bilateral ties. The French cultural consular also called on Director General (DG) Brig Azam Jamal and Head of French Language Department Dr Shazra Munnawer and they discussed issues relating to teaching and learning of the French language. “French Embassy in Islamabad and the French government highly appreciate the contribution made by NUML in terms of training French teachers, providing a unique platform for French language learning in Pakistan and cultural exchanges between the both countries,” the visiting counsellor said.
He ensured the hosts that the French government would provide all possible assistance to NUML to carry forward its mission of imparting language learning. According to a press release, the NUML DG while welcoming the visiting French cultural ambassador appreciated interest of the French government in promoting close collaboration with NUML French Department from where the Pakistani teachers of French language graduated, and met the growing interest in French language among young Pakistanis. The DG also apprised the guests about the visit of former French ambassador in Pakistan Daniel Jouanneau and decisions which were made in the meeting. The DG informed Bessat that he wanted that those decision would take the shape of MoUs. The French counsellor told the DG that the new designate French ambassador would arrive soon in Pakistan and a formal MoU signing ceremony would also be held soon.
