Dengue cases on the rise in twin cities

The number of dengue fever cases is increasing as on an average, three teaching hospitals of the city are receiving over 50 suspect patients daily while so far over 1732 suspects cases have been registered with allied hospitals.The allied hospitals of the town have received 437 positive cases of dengue fever while the total number of suspects so far reported at the three hospitals to 1732. Data collected by APP revealed that to date, a total of 1732 suspects have been received by the allied hospitals of which 437 have been tested positive by National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad while 606 negative.
The NIH has, however, yet to confirm status of 689 suspects. Also the number of patients visiting dengue fever OPD set up at the allied hospitals has been on the rise as within last 24 hours, as many as 1131 patients were examined at the dengue OPDs at the allied hospitals of which 58 after being suspected for the infection have been admitted.
To date, the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) has registered 757 dengue fever suspects of which 195 have been tested positive, recovered after medical treatment and discharged while 267 patients medical test report remained negative.
At the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), a total of 451 suspects have been registered so far of which 84 have been tested positive with 112 negative cases.
Over 524 total suspects registered to date with District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) while the number of positive cases remained 158 with 227 negative cases in the hospital.
Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) HFH, Dr. Javed Hayat talking to APP said that currently only one dengue positive patient is admitted in Holy Family Hospital while there is another dengue positive patient who is being treated in Benazir Bhutto hospital. Dr. Javed Hayat informed that the chance of dengue fever may by end of October.
