Chinese delegation visits National Monument Museum

National Defence University China Vice President Lieutenant General Ren Haiquan, along with his entourage, paid a visit to Lok Virsa and National Monument Museum (NMM) at Shakaparian. The visit was coordinated by the National Defence University (NDU). The delegates were received by officials of the museum who briefed the delegation about the functioning of the museum. The Monument Museum is the first ever museum of Pakistan dedicated to those who sacrificed their today for a better tomorrow. The museum depicts the history of the struggle for the freedom, emergence and development of Pakistan through 3-dimensional dioramic displays. The museum also presents key achievements of the country after independence, particularly in the field of culture, tourism, education, defence, communication, science & technology, sports, industries, women development and other important & diverse sectors of national life.
One can also see there glimpses of meritorious services rendered by the founder of Pakistan, Quaide Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, national poet and philosopher Allama Iqbal and a number of other national heroes and freedom fighters. The delegation took keen interest in the displays portraying the contributions of national heroes and freedom fighters projected creatively and three dimensional. The delegation was also impressed by the display on the Indus Valley Civilization which lasted from 3000 to 1500 BC and gave rise to the earliest urban settlements at Harappa and Moen jo daro. The civilization ended after the Aryan influx during the second millennium BC. The Aryans were migrants who came in successive waves, settled in the valley and developed small village communities.
