Security beefed up after terrorist attack warning

Security has been beefed up at sensitive installations and government building in the city following the warning of a possible terrorist attack. Sindh home minister Manzor Wassan said that all the government buildings and other sensitive spots would be monitored while snap checking in the city would also be conducted.
“No dereliction would be tolerated in this regard,” Wassan added. Sources said that that the Crisis Management Cell in Islamabad has directed provincial authorities to make foolproof security arrangements. Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) arrested more than 50 people in search operations in different parts of the city on Sunday.
In a joint operation of Rangers and police in Hijrat Colony, more than 30 people were arrested. Twenty people were arrested during an operation in Hussain Hazara Goth. “They would be released if found innocent,” said a police officer. Three people were killed in different areas of the city on Sunday. Unidentified people killed Naseer Ahmed, a fisherman, in the Saudi Colony area of Khokhrapar, Malir. The victim was a resident of the same area.
Police found the body of a woman bearing torture marks. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. A man was killed in Ranchore Line by unidentified people while he was heading home. Police said that the motive behind the murder could be personal enmity.
