Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) have seized 26 bottles of Indian liquor which was thrown by two suspects from Indian gate near Kala Khatai Border area on Sunday.
According to a handout, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) jawans observed the suspicious movement of two persons near Kala Khatai Border area during routine patrols. In the meantime, officials of Border Security Force (BSF) of India opened the gate and two persons carrying bundles entered the Zero Line.
Rangers officials challenged them after which they rushed back to Indian side after throwing two bundles. During a search, 26 bottles of liquor were recovered from the two bundles. According to the Pakistan Rangers spokesperson, a case would be registered against unidentified persons at the local police station. The spokesman further stated incidents of liquor smuggling into Pakistan from India have increased during the last three months.
He added Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) had arrested 7 smugglers and recovered 615 bottles of liquor during the period.
