The Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved its verdict on Monday on the petitions filed by female teachers who were seeking their transfers to various areas under wedlock policy. A single bench comprising Chief Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman was hearing the case, jointly filed by 38 female teachers against their proposed transfers to the provinces. Deputy Attorney General Tariq Mehmood Jahangir contended that the petitioners had completed their five-year tenures and there was no further justification of their staying in Islamabad on deputation. The council for the petitioners said that educators had been settled in the capital city for years and it would be difficult for them to adjust themselves in provinces. He urged the court to bind authorities concerned to permit their stay there.
