Seven more dengue victims breathed their last, while 371 more were infected by the virus in Lahore on Sunday, taking the total number of patients to a staggering 17,164. The official death toll has reached to 231, of which 207 were reported dead in Lahore only.
According to details, Abdul Rasheed, 70, resident of Rehman Scheme, Abdul Majeed, 70, resident of Makhan Pura and Fatima, 25, resident of Tajpura died in Mayo Hospital. Two patients Akhtar Bibi, 60, resident of Mozang and Haneef, 50, of Rajgarh also lost their lives in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. An employee of Social Security Hospital Shahzad, 50, also died in Nawaz Sharif Hospital due to dengue.
Health Department has claimed that only 1,206 patients were currently admitted in the entire province, of which 1,010 were in the hospitals of Lahore. The department has also claimed that 16,928 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals in the province. Of the 223 newly recruited nurses in the Services Hospital, 160 have taken charge after reporting to the hospital administration.
