Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Wajid Ali Durrani has issued comprehensive guidelines to help set up effective community police centres in the province.
“We have launched a programme to set up at least 495 community police centres in the province involving the civil society. This move is aimed at not only beating crime but also to have a friendly environment for peace and harmony among the masses,” he said in his instructions issued to SHOs across the province on Sunday.
Durrani ordered that all community police centres should work in close coordination with the respective SHOs. He stressed the need for street-watching and neighbourhood patrolling so facilitate check on criminal activities. “The community police centres also need to seek suggestions from the residents on the security situation,” the Sindh police chief added.
