Central Shoora of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Saturday demanded the government to immediately announce the proposed special committee for the implementation of the All-Parties Conference (APC) declaration and the Parliament’s unanimous resolutions. The Shoora met the JI chief Syed Munawar Hasan and said that the country was currently facing political chaos.
They condemned the killing of the Hazara people and deplored that the killers were still at large. The JI Shoora declared that any undemocratic measure taken to resolve the present situation of the country will not be acceptable to the nation. It also appealed to the Supreme Court to make its supervision of the Karachi situation more effective in order to establish lasting peace in the city.
In a separate statement JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch condemned the police torture on the peaceful rally of Lady Health Workers (LHWS) in Lahore that had led to the death of a LHW. He said that the non-payment of salaries to the LHWs for the last four months had exposed the good governance and efficiency of the Punjab government.
