Islam is against all forms of terrorism, violence and torture and preaches toleration, endurance, peace and in an Islamic society, every community is free to live according to their beliefs and faith, as Islam is a torchbearer of human rights protection and promotes consensus, harmony and urges respect for individuals and humanity, Punjab Governor Latif Khosa said on Saturday.
He was talking to a delegation of clerics led by the Qaumi Tajir Ittehad president, which called on him at the Governor’s House. Pakistan People’s Party Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, General Secretary Samiullah Khan and President Asif Ali Zardari’s Punjab Coordinator Naveed Chaudhry were also present. Khosa said that seeds of hatred and fanaticism were sown during the past, which we were reaping today.
He asked clerics and religions scholars to work for interfaith harmony and make united efforts to bring different sects closer.
