KHAIRPUR – A girl who married a man of her choice was killed on Sunday under the notorious Karo Kari custom, and her body was thrown in a paddy field in the Khero Jatoi village of Larkana district. Asia Jatoi, daughter of Nawaz Jatoi, had married Fayaz Jatoi of Dhandho Jatoi village almost a month ago in a court.
The news of her marriage infuriated her relatives, who forced Fayaz’s family to break the marriage. The man’s family returned the girl to her parents, who shot her dead after taking her away at some distance. Upon receiving the news, Tando Musti police reached the spot and took the body in its custody but returned it to her relatives after getting an autopsy done from Civil Hospital, Khairpur.
Meanwhile, her husband told reporters that Asia was handed over to her parents in his absence. On the other hand, the girl’s parents have blamed her husband’s family for killing her over Karo Kari. The Tando Musti police had not registered a case against the murder until this story was filed.
