The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will stage a protest today (Saturday) from the Punjab Assembly (PA) to the Chief Minister’s House at 90 the Mall and stage a sit-in against criminal negligence of the Punjab government in controlling the dengue outbreak in the province, which resulted in deaths of more than 200 people.
Punjab Opposition Leader Raja Riaz, talking to journalists outside the PA, said that CM Shahbaz Sharif’s government had completely failed to tackle dengue and the PPP Punjab Parliamentary Party decided to protest against the failure of the provincial government in eliminating dengue by holding a protest. Riaz said that he could no longer remain quite over Shahbaz’s criminal negligence in dealing with dengue. He said not only PPP MPAs will participate in the sit-in but Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) MPAs had also been invited to take part in the protest.
Reacting over the protest and sit-in of the opposition, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that it was in retaliation to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) protest and sit-in outside the Presidency. He said that the Punjab government would offer refreshments to the opposition.
