ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) seems to have succumbed to pressure by the United States, as it unsealed a US embassy warehouse in Sector I-9 on Friday. The CDA had sealed the warehouse after finding violations of building bylaws. In its Thursday’s edition, Pakistan Today published a story that the US embassy had been pressurising the Foreign Office and asking it to influence the CDA to reopen the warehouse.
CDA officials had sealed the warehouse according to its rules, which require the authority’s approval for further construction within the property. The CDA officials also returned the weapons seized from the security staff and embassy officials, while ordering the building owner to get the changes approved by the authority.
