Boy dies of torture in Faisalabad police custody

A 16-year-old boy, allegedly tortured and burned by police, passed away on Friday in the Allied Hospital. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the death of the youth and directed the Punjab Police inspector general to submit report to him on the killing within 24 hours. According to details, Inspector Muhammad Saeed had arrested Azeem of Faisalabad’s Chak-7 on suspicion of theft on September 9.
Azeem was doused in petrol and set ablaze after alleged torture in police custody. He was admitted to Allied Hospital and his family was informed. City Police Officer (CPO) Rai Tahir, taking notice of the incident, suspended and arrested three police personnel, including Saeed.
