An unemployed youth shot himself dead at his father’s grave in Nizamabad, Gujjarpura on Thursday. Police recovered a stamp paper from the pocket of the victim which described the motive for the suicide.
Gujjarpura SHO Shahid Ali said initial police investigation and crime scene analysis suggested that 30-year-old Muhammad Tariq went to his father’s grave and shot self in the right temple. He said an identity card and a stamp paper were recovered from the pockets of the victim whose love for his late mother, divorce and unemployment led to his suicide. The victim, father of a son, further stated in written that nobody was responsible for his suicide. The SHO said Tariq also handed over some cash to his friend and requested for donating it to a mosque. He said the body had been handed over to the family after autopsy.
In another incident, a 17-year-old girl was found shot dead under mysterious circumstances in a washroom of her home in Accounts Colony in Green Town on Thursday. The family claimed the victim committed suicide by shooting herself over marriage proposal dispute while the police said a post-mortem examination would be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
Green Town SHO Aamir Saleem said the body of Hina Saleem was recovered from the toilet of the house owned by Muhammad Saleem.
He said according to the family Hina wanted to marry the man of her own choice against her parents’ wish which led to strained relations. The family said Hina took it to her heart and committed suicide. However, the SHO said the autopsy would determine the exact cause of death.
GUNNED DOWN: A 35-year-old man was shot down over honour, allegedly, by two people n Asif Salman Colony of Kahna on Thursday.
Khana police said Muhammad Hanif Khan was killed after he tried to stop the suspects identified as Shahzad and Ishtiaq from teasing his daughter.
Hanif Khan had shifted from Bhaseen village of Batapur to Khana after the suspects kept teasing his daughter. Police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case against the runaway suspects.
FOUND SHOT DEAD: A 28-year-old man was found shot dead in a canal in Haier locality of Burki on Thursday.
Burki police identified the victim as Afzaal Ahmad of Haier village. Muhammad Younas told the police that his son left home last Wednesday midnight and did not return. On the day of the incident, some witnesses spotted the body floating in the canal and alerted the emergency police. The family identified the victim as Afzal who was shot in the head. Police said Afzal was a criminal with recorded history of several robberies. Police handed over the body to the family after autopsy and registered a case against unidentified persons.
