PPP, ANP reject HRCP’s formula for LG system in Sindh

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) have rejected the formula on local government system in Sindh proposed by the Human Right Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), saying the commission had no authority to give political suggestions.
PPP Sindh General Secretary Taj Hyder said the LG system in Sindh should not be treated on linguistic, but administrative basis and in accordance with the basic sprit of constitution, adding that the HRCP did not give importance to all stakeholders in Sindh, only two organisations. He said the HRCP had compiled its suggestion on grounds of political bargaining.
“It is not just that one district is created with a population of 0.4 million and other has over 10 million people. The HRCP is not bothering to research, but issuing uncooked thesis.” ANP Sindh spokesmen Qadir Khan said his party rejected the HRCP formula, adding that the HRCP should clarify how it used former adviser to Sindh CM Qaiser Bengali to present such a controversial formula based on linguistic basis.
