PML-N candidate Pir Khizar Hayat Shah Khagga won the PP-220 Sahiwal constituency by-election, a privte TV channel reported on Thursday. According to unofficial results, Khagga bagged 40,185 votes cast at 160 polling stations set up in Sahiwal. Following Khagga’s victory, PML-N workers poured onto the streets and started celebrations.
Reacting to the win, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the success of Khizar Hayat Khagga in the by-election of PP-220 Sahiwal was proof that people had rejected the politics of corruption, nepotism and plunder and fully supported Nawaz Sharif, who believed in the politics of democracy, justice and principles.
