The Supreme Court (SC), while admitting for hearing petition filed against appointment of Zaka Ashraf, Chairman, Zarai Tarqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) has issued notices to Secretary Establishment, Finance and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up the case for hearing Friday.
Counsel for petitioner took the plea Ashraf was appointed chairman ZTB on political grounds. SBP had objected to his appointment but he was inducted despite SBP objections, he said.
It was told on behalf of the petitioner former Finance Minister had directed that Ashraf be appointed at every cost. Bank is running into loss persistently following the induction of Zaka Ashraf. Tractors are not being provided even after the people had deposited the amount.
Mismanagement touched the peak in ZTB during the tenure of Ashraf as chairman, he informed.
The court while issuing notices to all concerned and seeking their replies has adjourned the hearing of the case till November, 14.
