The devolution of power after the adoption of the 18th amendment requires that the provincial ministry for labour review the existing policy draft for home-based women workers (HBW) in the provincial context, said speakers addressing a seminar, adding that it devise a strategy for the finalisation of the policy and legislation for home-based workers, and set up a National Task Force in this regard. This was a one-day provincial consultation on labour issues and the post-18th amendment situation in the context of HBWs’ policy and legislation, held on Thursday. It was organised by HomeNet Pakistan. The speakers at the meeting demanded the government conduct the data of HBWs at union council level for effective implementation. They emphasised upon need for parliamentarians to play a positive role for the approval of the draft of the National Policy for home-based workers. HomeNet Pakista Executive Director Umme Laila Azhar, while highlighting the importance of the meeting said the Sindh, Punjab and Baluchistan sssemblies had passed resolutions recommending the provincial chief ministers issue notifications for the Provincial Council for home-based workers.
