The auto industry is facing a unique dilemma, it has not been provided with any concrete direction, and government is planning all of its new policies related to auto industry without any consultation of local industry. Liberalisation of competition is against investment potential, which is dangerous for local auto industry, CEO Pervez Ghyas stated while talking to a group of media representatives during their visit to the plant of Indus Motors Company.
Asked how beneficial trade with India would be for the auto sector, he said this would affect the local vendors. Two-wheeler vendors would be severely affected through this trade because of India’s strong two-wheeler industry in the world, he added. Raza Ansari, Director Marketing IMC, at this occasion said we welcome new entrant policy if only there is no discrimination with the existing players in terms of tariffs, duties etc., while Planning Commission’s stance on tariff rationalisation, whose outcome is not known yet, would also create serious concerns for auto industry.
