Four alleged target killers involved in murdering over 70 persons were arrested in different search operations on Thursday while a huge quantity of weapons was seized from their possession. The CID police launched a raid in the Peerabad area and arrested two suspects identified as Obaid and Tariq belonging to a political party.
A Kalashnikov, two pistols and a large number of bullets were recovered. “The [alleged] accused have admitted to have assassinated more than 40 people including activists of different political parties,” police said. The Clifton police claimed to have arrested two suspects – later identified as Faisal Ansari and Daniyal – from the Zamzama Street after a shootout while recovering two rifles and two pistols from them. “The suspects have admitted to murdering 34 people in different localities [of the city],” police said. According to sources, all the four alleged accused are associated with political parties.
