11,093 tonnes of garbage removed in four days: CDGK

The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has removed 11,093 tonnes of garbage during the past four days of the third phase of the cleanliness campaign being carried out in six towns of the city. Karachi Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed and District Coordination Officer Roshan Ali Sheikh visited Landhi, Shah Faisal, Gadap, Bin Qasim, Malir and Korangi towns to review the progress of the drive launched on the directives of Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan. For the campaign, 8,282 employees have been deployed to ensure better results, whereas 611 vehicles of different categories have also been engaged to shift the garbage to landfill sites. Fumigation has also been included in the campaign to eliminate breeding of mosquitoes to minimise the chances of malaria and dengue. Moreover, citizens have been advised to step forward and help the city government in ensuring that better results are achieved from the cleanliness drive.
