Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) Chairman Lieutenant General (r) Syed Sabahat Hussain called on Punjab Governor Latif Khosa at the Governor’s House on Thursday and informed him that 0.15 million candidates have applied for 2,300 posts of lecturers in BPS-17 but the PPSC is trying hard to ensure transparency in this regard.
The PPSC chairman discussed various matters relating to higher education and pointed out that all universities should lay down a timeframe to issue degrees, so that students applying for government jobs could apply well in time. He proposed that universities ought to adopt either the annual system or semester system so that elements of uniformity in examinations could be ensured. Khosa said that the PPSC should inculcate and instill in minds of candidates that civil servants’ foremost loyalties should be with the state. He hoped that the PPSC would uphold its policy of ruthless and across the board merit. The governor assured the PPSC chairman that matters of uniformity in examinations would be taken up with the federal government.
