A district court extended the FIA custody of an accused for two days in online impersonation case on Wednesday. The accused, Mohsin Raza, is facing a trial for allegedly creating a fake Facebook account and impersonating to be a female teacher. Senior civil judge Mehmood Haroon Khan held the hearing of the case in which a female teacher of a private school alleged that some unidentified person had created a fake facebook ID in her name. She also alleged that the person had been sending unsolicited and obnoxious e-mails to her friends.
The FIA official investigating the matter told the court that the accused had confessed to committing online identity theft. He, however, said the FIA had still to seize the equipment (his personal computer etc) to investigate the matter further. The official sought five more days in that regard but the judge granted only the two-day physical remand of the accused until the next hearing on 14 October.
