They said his mission was to improve the health and education sector in Pakistan and he worked for the welfare of the disadvantaged and impoverished in society.
According to a press release, Dr Qazi said, “he developed a system that is sufficient to run the hospital and Tameer-e-Millat Foundation for the next 100 years. He truly was a visionary person who was farsighted in terms of the needs of the health and education sector and wanted to pay back to his motherland by a special focus on these two essential fields.”
Dr Ghani said he was not only a visionary person but a creator. “He had to build a center of excellence through his performance. He was an icon.” It was his vision that motivated him to build Shifa International Hospital, Tameer-e-Millat Foundation, Shifa College of Nursing, Shifa College of Medicine and a network of educational institutions in all four provinces, Dr Ghani maintained.
“Dr Zaheer will live forever as his ideas, vision and work will continue to change the lives of the neglected and deprived,” he said.
His colleagues recollected that Dr Zaheer had always stressed upon the need to provide better healthcare facilities to needy patients along with those who were rich and affluent.
They said he lived a simple life without any sense of superiority. His legacy included social welfare, high moral values, patriotism and devotion to his cause.
His children said their father wanted to see every Pakistani child well-educated and an indispensable citizen. He wanted to see every Pakistani getting the best healthcare. They said, as a father, he taught them to be independent and responsible for own actions. His family, friends and colleagues vowed to take on his mission following his path and the legacy he left behind.
