Six female intermediate students have challenged the medical entry test policy in the Lahore High Court (LHC) pleading the Punjab government, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), University of Health Sciences (UHS) and all medical colleges and medical universities. The students filed a petition through their counsel Azhar Siddique and submitted that the entry test policy was forcing students to take admission in various private medical institutes and spend a lot of money which was not possible for students with financial issues. They said the entry test nullified 12 years of hard work of students and decided their fate by entry tests which reduced the FSc weightage to only 40 percent.
They also said that marking negatively for a wrong answer was unfair. They said in other countries, separate entry test was not devised for admissions in medial colleges and only TOFEL, SAT or GMAT was required, which were the standard tests for admissions in any undergraduate university. It was also said that for engineering universities, FSc marks were given 70 percent weightage while the entry test was given 30 percent weightage while PMDC reversed this order for pre-medical students. The petitioners requested a ban on all private colleges and universities which hold courses for entry tests preparation which only the rich students could afford.

  1. The contribution of a comprehensive evaluation over two years period to only 40% is 100% unfair. Hundreds of toppers are deprived of their genuine right of study in medical college, which reflects something wrong with the approach behind the entry test and not with the toppers. Entry test, in my opinion, is absolutely not required. Is it not 100% unfair that a student, who has worked hard and secured 89% marks and who deserves the right to be admitted in KE college, is forced to seek admission in private colleges because of brutality of this entry test. It is humbly requested that the entry may be totally omitted and the boards should be trusted and their evaluation should be the final for deciding merit for admission to medical colleges. Moreover the entry test causes a lot of financial burden on the parents for getting coaching from academies. The decision of the court should be valid for the current admissions also. • U R WRONG I THINK THERE ARE LOT OF PEOPLE WHO GETS HIGH MARKS BY THEIR LUCK OR WRITNG. AND THERE ARE ALSO VERY INTELLEGENT
STUDENTS WHO CANNOT GET HIGH MARKS OR THEY ARE DEPRIVED OF FROM THEIR RIGHT THAN WHAT ABOUT THESE..THATS WHY ENTRY TEST IS VERY NECESSARY TO CHECK MIND AND INTELIGENCY OF STUDENT

  2. If these people do not truest the credibility if the f.sc examination then why dont they improve the f.sc examination rather than this MCAT test that they hold…it means that 2 years oof hardwork vs 3 months preparayion…and the two years only carry 40% weightage …thats totally unfair..

  3. If these people do not truest the credibility if the f.sc examination then why dont they improve the f.sc examination rather than this MCAT test that they hold…it means that 2 years oof hardwork vs 3 months preparayion…and the two years only carry 40% weightage …thats totally unfair..

  4. I seriously dont get this. this policy isnt new or sudden. it was announced a year back. why r these guys protesting now when the merit list is going to be displayed in less than a month

  5. AOA my name is RABIA FAREED and i am from khanewal i achieved 1004 marks in fsc and 986 in matric but unfortunately my enterance test marks werent so good only because of that my hardwork of four years meant nothing because of the new policy now i ask you guys where do i stand this policy is comparing myfour years of hardwork to a mere 40 % dont i deserve to be in medical college i am with these students u are comparing toppers the cream of ur nation with students gettig 800 marks in fsc where the justice has gone in pakstan

  6. this policy is correct and protect against those who secure the marks through unfair means, and also secure marks through (ratta) so don't you worry try next year and in this case a layer is also challenging that sahiwal, sialkot , gujranwal and D.G.Khan college is in illegal that is bad if the seat is less, so chance of the student is also minimum , Punjab gov: will be appreciated that the no of seat from 1200 to increased 3205 .so big hand with punjab gov: in future they raised the seat upto 5000

  7. challenging in court is good….mcat must be finished n if not then its waitge must be 30 ………..50 percent waitge is totally unfair with medical student……

  8. mcat is totally a rabbish idea to get admission in medical colege and specially its weightage 40,10,50. students do hard work day nd nite bt in pakistan they dnt get any result. uhs waly apny achon ko to admission dilwa dety hain keun k yei han jo private medical college chala rahy hain or sb ko loot rahy hain

  9. entry test zarur hona chahiay bcz hamara fsc ka exam system totally un fair hay checking bilkul theak nai hoti and secondly jin kay fsc marks achay hain unhain to is main ziada marks gain karnay chahian bcz it is totally from book .

  10. I am totally in favour of MCAT because in F.Sc students get marks in unbalnced way. Our Paper checking system is so poor. Many students work hard in f.sc but due to checking system and and other such negligences cant gain high marks. In fact these studets are the real cream of the country not those who got 1000+ marks but even could not pass the MCAT which is totally from text books. I 100% appreciate to those who desighnated the criteria of 50,40,10. In my opinion matrict should not be calculated as many students like had not worked hard in Matric. And the other thing which must be eliminated from MCAT is Negative Marking.
    Thanks….

  14. Entry test is a must for Pakistan , coz many ‘toppers’ are mere superficial and many true geniuses get poor marks in FSc (and Matric) due to the poor , checking system, and undefined conventional ways of attempting a paper e.g ‘adding quotes/verses to urdu papers’ , ‘writing the same essays ,exact to the comma , which have been used for half a century now’ etc. ENTRY TEST requires insight too , so not only the educational approach needs to be changed but also the checking system. Entry test is like a plasma membrane, allowing the proper ones to pass and stopping the misunderstood and assumed ‘intelligent ones’ .
ALL HAIL THE ENTRY TEST :p
