The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has broadened the scope of investigations into an alleged fake visas scam involving the British High Commission (BHC), and has obtained a three-day physical remand of four people including an employee of the BHC for illegally possessing seven passports.
The FIA has also obtained a three-day physical remand of Khurram Shehzad, a BHC employee, and Alban Ardance, Syed Muhammad Ali Shah and Moneeb. The FIA is also conducting raids in various parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to arrest the remaining accomplices of the BHC employee. The FIA also suspects that those arrested could be involved in human trafficking and the investigations could facilitate dismantling of a major human smuggling network. “The investigators are trying to assess the scale of the alleged scam and conducting raids to arrest further suspects,” a source said. He said the arrested people were involved in sending people illegally to Holland and the United Kingdom.
