The national team’s upcoming batsman Azhar Ali wants a permanent place in the team in both Tests and ODIs. Talking to journalists on the sidelines of the camp training of the team, Azhar said that the series would surely be interesting and tough. “We are all working hard and are trying to overcome the shortcomings,” he added. He further stated that he wanted to be part of the team in all the formats of the game and by spending more time on the crease he would stake claim for other formats too.
Another Pakistan’s young batsman Asad Shafique pointed out that the conditions in Dubai were ideal for Pakistan and the team is training in the camp with just one target. “With win in mind, the team is working hard and the conditions in UAE would surely help Pakistan,” he added. “I would be entering the series with a dream of hitting a century. Despite the absence of Muthiah Muralitharan, the Sri Lankan attack is quite strong which will make the series interesting,” said he.
