The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) on Wednesday observed Youm-e-Nijat to mark 12 years since former president and APML president General (r) Pervez Musharraf toppled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif’s government.
APML Spokesman Fawad Chaudhry chaired a party meeting at its Punjab secretariat and said that if the PML-N government was allowed to rule for six months more in 1999, the country might had been bankrupted. Fawad said that Musharraf overthrew Nawaz’s regime on October 12, 1999 and led the country to the way of prosperity and stability. He said that since Musharraf’s departure in 2008, a fragile economy and deteriorating law and order have become hallmarks of Pakistan.
The APML spokesman said that the so-called democratic government of Nawaz was the worst example of civilian dictatorship, which stigmatised democratic values in the country and exposed the autocratic mindset of the Sharif brothers. Fawad said that Nazi dictator Hitler also assumed power through public vote but the world identified him as a dictator and Nawaz had the same mindset due to which he led the country into the quagmire of crises and challenges through his autocratic thoughts. APML Vice-President Naeem Tahir, APML Lahore President Hafiz Ghulam Mohaiyuddin, youth wing leaders, including Syed Imran Shamsi, Mubassar Ahmed, Saad Malik, Abdullah Sardar, Malik Waris Khokar, Jalal Zaidi, Jamshed Jalbi, Rida Zehra, Muhammad Umair and APML Women Wing Punjab Vice-President Shahida Naseer and General Secretary Arifa Irfan also attended the meeting.
