At least 38 people were killed Thursday when a bus travelling from northeastern Nepal to Kathmandu veered off a track and plunged down the side of a mountain into a river, local officials said.
The bus swerved on an unfinished stretch of road and plummeted 300 metres into the fast-flowing water below, said Beni Madhav Gyawali, chief officer of Sindhuli district, around 80 kilometres (50 miles) east of Kathmandu.
