Apparently throwing spanner in the works of the government to keep the controversy alive, Opposition Leader Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday said he would respond to the president’s letter regarding nomination of Admiral (r) Fasih Bukhari as the NAB chairman after discussion with likeminded parliamentary parties and groups.
Talking to reporters outside the Parliament House, the opposition leader said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would set up a camp outside the Parliament House today (Wednesday) to protest against corruption, load shedding, inflation and unemployment in the country.
Nisar said the protest camp would remain in place for several days and party chief Nawaz Sharif would also address the protesters.
He said all parliamentarians of his party would participate in the protest and he was also in contact with other opposition parties and would invite them to join the sit-in.
Nisar said the biggest problem being faced by the country at present was corruption and NAB should be headed by a person with impeccable record, who could hold both the opposition and the government accountable without any discrimination and favour. He said the government had been forced into filling the vacancy of the NAB chairman after the verdict of the Supreme Court.
