IGP stresses effective steps to curb crime in capital

Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan has ordered his subordinates to take effective steps to control crimes in the city and adopt a professional approach to mitigate the sufferings of the people. He stated this while addressing a meeting held here to review the progress of various police stations. The meeting was attended by AIG (Operations) Dr Sultan Azam Temuri, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Yousuf Malik, all the four SPs, all sub-divisional police officers, Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) in-charge and station house officers, according to a press statement issued here.
The IGP said that an effective strategy was vital to control crime and ordered to ensure arrest of proclaimed offender and other criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature and are still at large. He also told police officials for strict monitoring of suspects with record in car lifting cases or other criminal activities. He categorically asked to focus on resolving the public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens. He said police officials found responsible in delaying the registration of cases and doing sluggish investigation would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them. Bani Amin told all police officials to improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses on immediate basis. He stressed for speedy disposal of cases and on merit investigation.
“Policing is a service-oriented job and every police official must serve the humanity with devotion,” the IGP added. He said FIRs must be registered at police stations on merit and without any delay and inconvenience to the citizens. The IGP also told the police officials to be polite with their staff and people coming with complaints. He ordered the policemen to ensure effective patrolling to curb vehicles’ theft and appreciated the measures taken by the officials to curb crime.
