Don’t jump a floor too far: KBCA

The Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) has made it mandatory to build the ground and first floors of a house or a residential project first if the approval for constructing the second floor is sought. According to KBCA statement issued on Tuesday, this decision has been made to discourage the violation of building and construction laws. For all kinds of commercial and residential constructions, the approval for second floor will be granted upon the submission of a completion certificate for the ground and first floors. Only the KBCA director general will grant this approval. KBCA Director General Manzoor Qadir has instructed directors and deputy directors of the authority to strictly adhere to these directives to avoid departmental action. The KBCA has also cancelled the revised no-objection certificate (NoC) of a construction project – Areesha City – and imposed a ban on the publicity of the project and sale of its units as well as its construction. The NoC of the project was revised under an agreement between the builders and the old allottees under the supervision of the KBCA. But the builder violated the agreement, forcing the KBCA to cancel the revised NoC.
