The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) decided on Tuesday to construct a flyover in the Lea Market area of Lyari Town to curb traffic gridlocks and in turn facilitate the locals, Pakistan Today has learnt. The CDGK made the decision during a high-level meeting chaired by Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed at the camp office, the sources said. They said the administrator has constituted a five-member technical committee to conduct a survey of the area and submit a report in this regard by Saturday, October 15. The participants of the meeting discussed various options and it was decided that a committee comprising the Master Plan executive district officer (EDO), Revenue EDO, Karachi Mass Transit Cell director general, Transport EDO and a representative of a consultant firm would conduct a survey of the whole area and submit a report in this regard by Saturday, the sources added.
They said the participants of the meeting also decided that this major project would be completed in two phases.
A single lane flyover would be constructed in the first phase, whereas the other lane of the bridge would be constructed in the second phase, they added. Sources said the administrator urged the officers concerned to start work on the project without delay and make all-out efforts to complete it on time.
