The Lahore High Court on Monday restrained Senior Federal Minister/PML-Q central leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi from addressing any public rally of PML-Q Candidate Muzzaffar Shah in PP-220 Sahiwal observing that under rules and regulations of the Election Commission of Pakistan it was unlawful and illegal for a state functionary to support a candidate during elections process.
Barring Elahi’s address to a public gathering in PP-220 Sahiwal-I and inaugurating the gas supply scheme in the area on October 10, the LHC ordered regional police officer (RPO) Sahiwal and the district coordination officer (DCO) Sahiwal to stop the federal minister from visiting the constituency by applying the notification of the ECP.
Besides the court issued notices till October 15 to the RPO and the DCO Sahiwal, and PML-Q Candidate Muzzaffar Shah and also sought report regarding compliance of the court’s orders in this regard.
‘We will knock PML-N out’: Meanwhile, launching the first campaign of PML-Q and PPP electoral partnership from PP-220, Sahiwal, Pervaiz Elahi claimed that the two-party electoral coalition would knock out PML-N in every election.
Addressing to the party leaders and workers at the opening ceremony of a utility store at Noor Shah Town, the seat of Khaggha clan situated in PP-220 on Monday, he announced that PML-Q and PPP electoral partnership would not stay limited to Punjab only and both the political parties would carry the same spirit across the country in the next elections.
