After a threat of strike and protest of the main opposition party PML(N), in and outside the parliament, against the unscheduled and prolonged loadshedding, the government has strangely ended loadshedding, at least for the time being. The government announced ending unscheduled and prolonged loadshedding from the country and has promised the public that there would be no more unscheduled loadshedding. The Federal Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar made this promise with the people on the floor of National Assembly after a strong protest from the opposition. He said that government was fully committed to eliminate loadshedding and was taking effective steps to eliminate loadshedding.
Upon the strong protest, the finance ministry issued Rs11 billion to the Hub Power Company (HUBCO) and Kot Addu Power Company (KAPCO). This will end unscheduled loadshedding in a few days. Moreover, the shortfall has also decreed due to weather turning to cool. They claim that the demand and supply difference has been removed. But the question here is that whether this time the government would be able to honour its assurances extended to the suffering masses at the hand of exorbitant power loadshedding. All such assurances have not been met with satisfaction previously.
