Former Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Khawaja Sharif will appear before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) division bench on Tuesday (today) to defend Mumtaz Qadri’s step to murder former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer. The Division bench comprising IHC CJ Iqbal Hameedur Rehman and Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi will resume hearing of Mumtaz Qadri’s plea, challenging the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi II verdict awarding him death penalty on two counts. Khwaja Sharif will lead Qadri’s lawyers. In the appeal, Qadri’s counsels pleaded that Qadri had not committed an act of terrorism by killing Taseer under section 6 of the ATC.
