Post-Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital Principal Dr Tariq Salahuddin and all doctors, paramedics and hospital staff thanked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for giving Rs 0.5 million as financial assistance to the bereaved family of student-nurse Asma Kanwal, who sacrificed her life while serving the dengue patients at LGH.
Asma suffered from dengue during the time she was looking after patients in the dengue ward.
She went into a coma and died 10 days later. The PGMI principal reiterated his demand that the federal government award Asma the Tamgha-e-Shuja’t, as it would encourage all those involved in the noble profession of nursing.
