As the deaths from dengue virus crossed the 200 mark, the Punjab government on Monday claimed 24 percent decline in the disease across Punjab and three percent in Lahore.
At least six more people were reportedly killed by dengue fever in Lahore, taking the number of deaths from dengue to 202 in the province, of which 181 people lost their life in Lahore. According to a report by the Punjab Health Department, as many as 198 confirmed dengue patients had been reported in Punjab in the last 24 hours, 150 in Lahore alone.
Agriculture Secretary Arif Nadeem said during a briefing at King Edward Medical University that of the 400 identified dengue vector mosquito breeding sites, only 17 were to be cleared from its larvae, while the remaining sites had been treated mechanically and chemically to kill the larvae.
Meanwhile, a 10-year-old girl died of dengue virus near Ranipur on Monday.
