Fake cases are being registered and state machinery is being used to oppress and victimise Ayesha Ahad Malik in violation of fundamental human rights by the Punjab Government and Muttahida Qaumi Movement would not tolerate humiliation of a woman, Parliamentary Leader of the MQM Dr Farooq Sattar said on Monday.
Ayesha is reported to be a wife of Pakistan Muslim League-N MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, who is son of the Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
“We don’t want to discuss personal issues of the individuals. We have not questioned the second marriage or secret marriages on moral grounds. We are only pointing out that abuse of power by the Punjab government and registering fake cases against a woman to keep her under detention is a grave violation of fundamental human rights,” Sattar said while addressing a press conference outside the Parliament House. He also added that the Lahore High Court had bailed Ayesha out but she was again arrested in another fake case immediately after her release.
“Registering fake cases and using official machinery against her is a cruel act of the Punjab government and proof of the PML-N’s bad governance. We have nothing do with marriages of the people. It is a personal issue of the individuals but we cannot allow such violations of human rights and humiliation of a woman in the country and we shall also protest on the issue in the Senate,” Sattar said, adding that he had to come outside the Parliament House and talk to the reporters when he was not allowed to speak on the issue.
He demanded that the fake case registered under section 506 against Ayesha should be taken back immediately and the matter should be resolved by the families at the domestic level.
