The prices of most of vegetables items in the city’s Sunday bazaars remained stable as compared to previous week’s rates. However, this Sunday, prices of potato, onion, black pepper, green chilli and chicken witnessed a slight increase. This week the prices of tomatoes, which have been facing ups and down for the last three weeks as they are being imported from India, witnessed a decrease of Rs 16 per kg from the last week’s prices.
This week it was sold at Rs 64 per kg rather than the previous week’s rate of Rs 80 per kg. This week the prices of green chilli and black pepper witnessed an increase of Rs 12 and 40 per kg respectively. Green chilli was sold at Rs 92 against the previous week’s Rs 80 per kg and black pepper was sold at Rs 120 per kg with an increase of Rs 40 over previous week’s rates. Almost all other vegetable and fruit items either remained stable or witnessed a slight decrease.
According to price lists at Sunday bazaars, this week potatoes were sold at Rs 34 per kg, ginger and garlic at 76 per kg, tori at Rs 46 per kg, and ladyfinger at Rs 46 per kg. Similarly, this week, pumpkin was sold at Rs 40, bitter gourd at Rs 50 and cucumber Rs 40 per kg. This week the prices of chicken witnessed an increase of Rs 10 per kg. Chicken was sold at Rs 120 per kg against last week’s price of Rs 110 per kg.
According to price lists, this week the prices of brinjal also witnessed a significant decrease. This week it was sold at Rs 20 per kg rather than previous week’s Rs 40 per kg. The prices of lemon also witnessed a significant decrease. This week lemon was sold at Rs 60 per kg with a 50 percent decrease, as during last week it was sold at Rs 120 per kg. In the fruit section, this week the prices of pomegranate witnessed an increase of Rs 20 per kg. This week it was sold at Rs 120 per kg rather than previous week’s rate of Rs 100 per kg.
