Shahbaz takes notice of Chiniot women torture incident

Punjab Chief Minsiter Mian Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the women torture incident in Chiniot and ordered stern action against the guilty.
Taking notice on the news that Chiniot policemen have tortured women mercilessly, Shahbaz ordered the police high-ups to send a team of high-level police official to Chiniot to carry out investigations and submit a complete report of the incident within 24 hours.
Earlier, a federal sensitive agency sent a report of the incident to Islamabad in which two SHOs and 25 police personnel were held responsible for torturing the women who were protesting the murder of a man from their family.
According to sources, the report held Chiniot City Police SHO Sheikh Tahir and SHO Sadar Police Zafar Ahmad responsible for police torture. DPO Shahzad Akbar ordered to remove the women from the road, the report said, adding that there is no case against the deceased Anwar Ali in district Chiniot.
The DPO has claimed in his report that the whole family was involved in criminal activities and had several cases lodged against them. He had also said that the family had a habit of protesting after committing crimes in order to divert attention.
The women were protesting against the murder of Anwar Ali, who was shot dead on his wedding day by a constable, by placing his dead body in front of the DPO office as a way to press for justice.
