Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said that the Punjab government is considering the proposal of provision of treatment and test facilities at reasonable rates to deserving patients in private hospitals and laboratories on a permanent basis and instructions have been issued for formulating practicable policy for this purpose. He was chairing a meeting held to review the ongoing drive for eradication of dengue in the province. The meeting also reviewed in detail the “Qadam Barhao Dengue Makao” campaign, provision of treatment facilities to people and steps taken for controlling dengue. The CM said that keeping in view the benefit of free treatment and test facilities at fixed rates in private hospitals, the need was felt that such a system should be evolved under which, besides dengue, medical facilities to the under privileged people suffering from other diseases could be available at reasonable rates in private hospitals and laboratories. He said that a vigorous campaign regarding dengue was continuing and cooperation of the people was of great importance for elimination of this virus. He said that the government was also making formal legislation to keep the environment clean.
