Pak officer killed in Afghan terrorists’ attack

A security official and many terrorists were killed in an encounter when some Afghan militants attacked a Pakistani security check post close to the Pak-Afghan border at Barawal area of Upper Dir. According to officers, the militants opened indiscriminate fire on a check post, killing one officer and injuring two others. In the encounter that ensued, many terrorists were also killed. Locals have claimed that the shooting was still going on while the officers have neither affirmed nor denied the claim.
Officials said the militants were hiding in Afghanistan after escaping from Swat and were being supported by the Afghan government.
On the other hand, two rucksack bodies were found from a canal in Manayan area (Lower Dir), police said, adding that the victims had been tortured to death. In another incident, security forces succeeded in recovering a huge quantity of arms during an action in Jamrud area of Khyber Agency on Sunday morning.
