NAB investigation officers not appearing in courts

A new trend has started in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab Investigation Wing, as investigation officers have started to avoid appearing in accountability courts during the hearing of their relevant references, causing unnecessary delay and adjournments in proceedings, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Although accountability courts were issuing non-bail able arrest warrants, even then, NAB investigation officers were not bothering about the court decorum. On Saturday, an accountability court in Lahore issued non-bail able arrest warrants of investigation officer Riaz Khan due to his non-appearance in court during the hearing of his relevant references against Falak Sher.
Earlier, on August 30, an accountability court had issued non-bail able arrest warrants of NAB Punjab Investigation Officer Yasir Malik on basis of his absence during the trial of Zafar Yaseen.
Another accountability court on August 23 issued non-bail able arrest warrants of NAB Punjab Deputy Director and Investigation Officer Muhammad Rafi on the basis of his absence during the trial of Sheikh Sultan Ahmed. Muhammad Rafi’s non-bail able arrest warrant was repeated on August 26 during hearing of a reference filed against Abdul Haleem Qureshi, a senior officer of the Punjab Irrigation Department. Rafi once again failed to appear in court to conduct the hearing.
The trend of non-appearing in courts among NAB investigation officers was taking place due to the ad-hoc policy adopted by the government regarding appointment of NAB’s senior management such as the chairman and prosecutor general, Pakistan Today has learnt. Former NAB prosecutor Adnan Shuja Butt said that due to non-appointment of top management in NAB, investigation officers were also free from the fear of any check and balance within the organisation. This was why they were not taking the matter seriously.

  1. very rightly depict the over power NAB laws and ordinance, maximum case are basis of political motives. Pakistan should be corruption free but a fair and free lawful organisation should be there. a big responsibility on regulator of different business and system.

  3. nab is totally working on injustice..they are arresting innocent people without any reason..its not fair at all.

  4. Its really a shame on the part of goverent and a big question mark on the fairness and justice system within NAB. The organization whose own officers are not respecting law and courts what to wxcept of them. They should be arrestef and put in jail the way they are doing to people. They are arresting innocent people and not sending refetences to courts nor attending the courts. On the other hand they are doing ple bar gain with powerful and corrupt people and depositing only a fraction of money to Govt. treasury. No rule of law even in this so called NAB…… as we are third world countries….. i ask one questiln to the Nab court judge that even if issuing warant without bail these lawless officers are mot arrested than Nab judge should resign

  5. NAB the logo is " Legalized kidnapping for ransoming" thats what they are doing. those who are innocent and cant pay the RANSOM to their desire than these Lawless investigating officers neither release the accused nor send their references or even do the investigation. More over these innocent victims are kept in jail for years on judicial remand without any proven crime and barring the right of Bail…………… NAB and chairman NAB should be shamed of on this illegal act of abuse of power, injustice, and torture… and unable to deliver their legal duties. the criminal should be bring to justice and innocent should be released soon after investigations not after getting the legal ransom ………………..
