A police personnel succumbed to death in the line of duty after the house of District Police Officer (DPO) was hit by two rockets unleashed from unidentified location in Bannu district early on Sunday morning, officials said.
According to police, at least four rockets were fired at police cantonment area from some unidentified location. Two of the rockets hit the house of DPO Bannu Sajjad Khan, while as many ended up missing the target.
A security man, who was on duty outside the residence of DPO Sajjad, died on the spot after the rocket struck the deceased.
Another rocket hit within the limits of police cantonment area but failed to explode, causing no destruction whatsoever.
