The newly launched housing scheme, ‘Margalla Retreat’ of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been challenged in Islamabad High Court.
Housing Scheme “Margalla Retreat” is located in a fully developed sector of Islamabad, E-11.
Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan of Islamabad High Court issued notices to the CDA high-ups in a writ petition challenging the launch of Margalla Retreat housing scheme in Sector E-11 without giving alternative plots to the people affected by the scheme.
The petition was filed by Pakistan Medical Cooperative Society. The counsel for the petitioner contended that the CDA had acquired land from his client and other people of Sector E/11 and allotted them alternative land. He further contended that, later, the civic authority reserved the alternative land for a graveyard and nullahs.
The lawyer submitted that when the matter was taken up with the CDA high-ups, they promised that the affected people would be given plots in northern strip.
He pleaded that his client and other affected people were now being denied allotment of plots in northern strip. After hearing the arguments, Justice Riaz Ahmed issued notices to the CDA, sought comments and adjourned hearing till the third week of September.
