The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday granted bail until October 13 to Ayesha Iqbal Malik, daughter of former PML-Q MPA and film producer Ahad Malik, on a petition challenging her arrest and 10 days physical remand by judge of an anti-terrorism court-II for allegedly kidnapping a Filipino.
A division bench consisting of Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Shahid Hameed Dar suspended the order of her physical remand and granted bail against two surety bonds of Rs 0.1 million each. In addition, observing mala fide on part of police against Ayesha, the court ordered the IGP to hold an inquiry headed by DIG Major (r) Mubasharullah against Defence-A SHO Attique Dogar and Incharge Investigation Zulifqar and submit a report by the next date of hearing.
The court ordered the LHC Human Right and Vigilance Cell DG to probe against an anti-terrorism court judge for granting remand of the accused to recover ransom amount, which was not requested by the investigation officer in his application for remand.
