The commissioning of the Professional Finance Commission (PFC) is in its final phase and it would be announced soon, a handout issued on Friday quoted Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan as saying at a meeting at the Governor’s House. The meeting reviewed financial matters of the city and district governments of Karachi and Hyderabad, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Hyderabad.
Dr Ebad said that the functioning of PFC would help improve the financial matters of the local governments as well as other financial affairs of the province and also generate more resources. He directed the officers concerned to step up work to estimate the losses to the infrastructure following the rains and floods in the province. He also directed the provincial Finance Department to guide the local governments on financial matters and provision of funds. The governor directed KWSB and WASA Hyderabad to take measures to increase their recoveries.
