Police arrested 210 street criminals in current year

The capital police during the current year have arrested 210 alleged criminals in its special campaign to curb incidents of street crime and armed robberies and seized looted items worth thousands of rupees, 170 mobile phones and 23 cars from them.
A police spokesman said on Friday that a special plan had been chalked out by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan to curb street crimes and orders were issued to all superintendents of police (SPs), sub divisional police officer (SDPOs) and patrolling officers for effective policing as well as vigilance in their precincts.
As per that plan, special monitoring of the culprits with a record of their involvement in street crimes was conducted and it made the arrests possible.
The spokesman said the city circle police arrested 43 street criminals, sadar circle police held 94, and industrial circle police 43 while Rural Zone nabbed 30 during the current year.
He said police also recovered 170 snatched or stolen mobile phones, 23 stolen or snatched vehicles.
